Originally the ruler comes from the old traditional China and are hardly indispensable in this day and age. Even the Egyptians could measured the routes with the help of fixed points and strings. By 1800, the meter was introduced as a measure of Pierre Simon Marquis de Laplace. Tom Dixon accented the indispensability of the ruler by the shiny gold brass surface. Especially detailed are permanently etched markings and the Tom Dixon Eclectic logo. The ruler is also available as a set of "The Mathmatician" with triangles and circles.
