There is hardly a room without them: chairs. At the dining table, in the waiting room, at the desk, in the restaurant, in the bedroom as storage for clothes, in the children's room, as a side chair, as a cosy seat from which you don't want to get up. And the variety of materials is as diverse as the possible uses: made of wood, covered with fabric, made of metal, made of plastic, in bright colours or completely natural - and even transparent. And with or without backrests.

Without chairs, a room is not a furnished room. While we humans originally sat on the floor, our seating culture has changed throughout history. Sitting on chairs or chair-like structures was initially reserved for pharaohs, kings and the aristocracy. Only later did the chair find its way into other social classes and today it is an integral part of our lives and culture. The chair was and is a sought-after object by designers who experiment with chairs and the function of sitting in their designs. Today, some of them are celebrated worldwide as classics, they are reissued in re-editions and exhibited in famous museums.
