Dedon, headquartered in Lüneburg, Germany and founded in 1990, is one of the world's leading providers of outdoor furniture. At the end of the 1990s the former football player Bobby Dekeyser had the idea to create an "outdoor living room" with durable furniture. The furniture should be weatherproof and robust and therefore be equally resistant all the time to the effects of sunshine, rain, and cold. Two elements were critical to the success: First of all, Bobby Dekeyser developed a completely new fiber based on polyethylene. And second of all, the young visionary encountered the traditional art of Philippine braiding and weaving. He established contacts during a visit to the island of Cebu and soon built his own factory for the production of Dedon garden furniture there.
