In 1951 Bernard Schottlander created the elegant and delicate Mantis series, which is inspired by a praying mantis. As an artist, an engineer and in no small measure a handyman he devised a clever system of counterweights combined with a series of strong and flexible metal bars. His creations are a play between balance and gravity, which results in fascinating objects that are characterised by their gracile character.
The original prototype of the BS2 was smaller - therefore DCW now decided to launch it under the name 'BS2 Mini'.
The Mantis BS2 Mini wall lamp by DCW is made from satin black coloured steel and aluminium.
The Mantis collection by DCW - which you can find in our shop - also includes a larger version of this lamp.
