The suspension lamp Model 2065 was designed by Gino Sarfatti in 1950. During this time, glass was the mainly preferred material for creating lamps. Sarfatti received the first samples of a polymer in 1949 and noticed that it was not only much more robust but also significantly lighter than glass. This is how the new model came about.
The diffuser of the lamp consists of two opal “plates” which are connected to each other and held by a white or black cable. In 2016 the manufacturer Astep re-launched the lamp.
